At Lungscreen, we understand the critical importance of early detection in the effective management of lung nodules. Our virtual Lung Nodule Clinic is dedicated to the systematic tracking, evaluation, and management of incidental lung nodules, utilising cutting-edge technology and expert medical oversight to ensure optimal patient outcomes across Australia.
Lung nodules are small masses of tissue in the lungs, typically discovered incidentally during imaging tests conducted for other reasons. While most lung nodules are benign (non-cancerous), a small percentage can represent early-stage lung cancer or become cancerous over time.

Each nodule is assessed for malignancy risk based on size, growth rate, and morphological features using evidence-based protocols and cutting-edge software tools.
Depending on the assessed risk, management can range from routine surveillance to recommend further diagnostic testing or interventions if needed.
Upon detection of a nodule, patients receive a comprehensive lung health assessment conducted by our Nurse Navigator. After collation of images, reports and patient history our Clinical Radiologists will provide recommendations for management, surveillance and monitoring in accordance with international guidelines.
Our virtual clinic model allows for consultations and follow-up appointments to be conducted remotely by our Nurse Navigator, providing support and guidance for patients residing anywhere within Australia.
We play a significant role in supporting Primary Care Providers to effectively manage lung nodules. With the ability to integrate our referral pathway within practice management systems ensures a seamless and timely referral process. Our Nurse Navigator can create an individualised Care Plan for each patient, enabling GPs’ to benefit from specific Medicare items.
We work closely with Respiratory Physicians, Oncologists, and Thoracic Surgeons to formulate management plans that are tailored to the individual needs of each patient. If necessary, multidisciplinary team meetings will be facilitated to promote patient centred care and achieve optimal health outcomes with regards to lung health.
Patients and referring physicians are provided with comprehensive information about lung nodules, including the risks and benefits of different management strategies, enabling informed decision making.
We employ the latest in radiographic technology to ensure high-quality imaging that aids in precise nodule characterization.
All imaging and data are securely stored and readily accessible through our VNA, supporting seamless collaboration between different healthcare providers.
Utilizing data from a wide array of cases, we employ advanced analytics to refine risk assessment models and improve the predictive accuracy of nodule malignancy.
Our reporting and management protocols adhere to international standards, including those set by the International Labour Organisation (ILO) for occupational screenings.
All radiologists at the Lung Nodule Clinic are fellowship-trained and certified by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR), with specific expertise in pulmonary imaging.
